Quick. Picture an auto repair shop.

You see:

–Some cars, obviously.

–A whole lot of grease.

–Freshly baked ham-and-cheese muffins.

Hey, we don’t know what kind of body shops you frequent, but ours typically have pastries.

Say hello to Craftsman and Wolves, the most awesomely named bakery probably ever, opening Saturday in a former car repair shop on Valencia.

First, let’s be clear: while this used to be a repair shop specializing in fixing up old Jags, there are zero remnants of those days. Not even, like, a leftover seat belt buckle somewhere. None.
Before grabbing a seat at the vintage metal communal table up front, make your way to the 20-foot jewelry case full of croissants, éclairs, cubed cakes and other highly designed edibles. Your quarry: the already-notorious ham-and-cheese muffin with built-in soft-boiled egg known as The Rebel Within. (Enjoy responsibly.)

Instead, it’s the sort of lofty, sky-lit, gentlemanly spot you might even take your dad to for breakfast (ahem, this Sunday).

On return visits, you’ll want to sample the Pain au Cochon (a prosciutto version of pain au chocolat), a pork loin/squash slaw/bacon sandwich, a picnic box that you can take to Dolores Park, or the foie gras/chocolate/toffee ganache–filled chocolate cake, The Devil Inside.
