Dutch Docklands has outposts in Dubai, the Maldives
 and now, Miami

A Dutch developer is eyeing Biscayne Bay for a $200 million floating development with housing, schools and shopping, bringing innovation to a historical South Florida tradition.
Netherlands-based Dutch Docklands wants between 500 to 1,000 acres across the water to build a floating island. It opened an office in Miami’s Southeast Financial Center, its fourth office along with branches in the Maldives, Dubai and the Netherlands.
The company is considering Miami, Miami Beach and Kendall for its first U.S. project, but is also in talks with the Florida Keys, New York City, Cincinnati and several towns in New Jersey with proposals to extend their cities by building on water, Miami Today reported.

Dutch Docklands has patented technology for “constructing large scale floating units,” according to the company’s website.
