Local Mission Market Opens With All-Local Meat, Cheese, Bread and Dry Goods

Local Mission Market opened November 5th with all-local meat, fish, cheese, bread, and dry goods. Located on Harrison Street at 23rd Street in the Inner Mission, the new “locavore” market stocks only products from a 90-mile radius of San Francisco (with exceptions for coffee, tea, chocolate and spices). If it’s not in season, it’s not in the store—no tropical fruits, no imported ethnic foods, just local food. Prepared foods sold by the market are done in-house, as well as the butchery, baking, pasta-making, and more.
The other thing that makes the Local Mission Market stand out is the high level of tech involved with buying food. Scales run by iPads print labels, roving checkers with iPads help keep lines down, and two levels of online membership (with a monthly fee) allow for advance shopping–just come pick it up–or free delivery by bicycle cart.

The Local Mission Market is targeting tech-savvy shoppers with high standards for organic and local food, making the Mission District a perfect choice of location.
