Haight Ashbury Getting A Face Lift

The plan has been in the works for a long time, and it’s finally becoming a reality: the Haight is on track for a major revamp before the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love.

We got you an invitation to the first meeting early.

The Haight Ashbury Merchants Association and the SF Planning Department are working together to roll out a Haight Ashbury re-visioning project to pretty it up, install some public art, revamp some gnarly sidewalks, and do whateveryou think needs doing.

The plans are still just coming together, and the first meeting is October 24, 6 to 7:30 PM at the Urban School, 1563 Page Street.

This is the first open meeting since the city approved a big chunk of funding for the project.
The initial meeting is designed to be an information session and will be hosted by Supervisor Christina Olague. It’s also meant to be a way for a planning committee to pool what the community wants and needs from the public spaces in the Haight (streets, sidewalks, adjacent parks) and how best to develop that into a new and improved vision for the ‘hood.

Get involved, stay informed; we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
